Athlete Interview

Someone you look up to; athlete, coach, family etc. and why?

My mom. Because she pushes me to be great, and we always do cheer stuff together as she also coaches!

If you could give one piece of advice to younger athletes, what would it be?

Never give up working for what you want. Sometimes you face different types of challenges, but those things should never stop you from fighting for what you want.

Do you have any odd pre-game rituals?

I always have to drink a strawberry açaí refresher before I compete. I also put glitter on my legs (weird) but I have to.

Are you more confident at Home or Away games and why?

Home because everyone I know is there watching.

What are your short-term and long-term aspirations?

I want to be a world champion! I also want to cheer in college and be a pediatric nurse.

How do you handle pressure during a critical game or performance?

I just choose to have confidence in myself.

What does teamwork mean to you, and share a meaningful leadership moment.

I believe a team is a family. We need to be a well bonded group that truly believes in one another. I believe I lead by example. I always give 100% effort. I NEVER miss a practice. I show up on time and ready to work hard.

What would you say are your greatest strengths and weaknesses as an athlete?

Weaknesses - I used to tumble all the time. After Covid I struggled with a mental block, so I decided I was going to focus my energy on being the best flyer I could be.

Strengths - being able to stunt efficiently. I am a really strong stunter.

How do you manage you athletic responsibilities with academics & personal commitments?

I am on three teams, and I work. But, I take it one step at a time. I love cheer, so I don’t see it as something that I “have to do” and more of something that I “get” the opportunity to do!

How do you handle constructive criticism & feedback from coaching staff?

I take all of their feedback and do exactly what I’m told. I take all of the corrections and apply them, because they will only make me better

What has been a big success moment so far, and how do you remember it making you feel?

I won NCA 2023 and Cheersport 2024. I am a 2 time silver medalist at Summit and a 2 time bronze medalist at summit!

I remember when we won NCA it was the highlight of my cheer career. NCA is one of the biggest and most prestigious completions in the country. Leaving with that black jacket was a dream come true! I’ll never forget celebrating and crying with my team! We were so proud!

An interesting fact about me is...

I cheered for ECE for 7 years, and I made a level 6 worlds team. This season for my senior year I decided I would make a change. I am now an athlete on senior 5 Coed Maine stars Savage, and Senior 6 limited small coed Maine Stars Glory!
