March brought the energy, emotion, and nonstop action that make sports photography so special — and Fv3’s first annual Sports Pic March Madness was the perfect showcase of it all. From intense game-winning moments of Fury, to raw sideline emotion and Focus, this month celebrated the athletes, teams, and stories that define New England sports culture.
At Fv3, sports photography is about more than just freezing motion. It’s about capturing the passion behind every play — the focus before the whistle, the grit during competition, and the pride after the final buzzer. Throughout March, we highlighted some of our favorite images across multiple sports, featuring standout athletes, dramatic lighting, powerful movement, and unforgettable moments that tell a story in a single frame.
Team Focus
Calm, cool, and collected under pressure, these athletes strongly stood rooted in a big moment. And, as top performing athletes know, remaining in control under immense pressure can make all the difference.
Our Round 1 matchups started strong, pitting some big name sports against one another in a single elimination.
Some huge matchups to note here in the first round! Gymnastics looks for high marks against Tennis, but can the underdog volley back and win the set? Figure Skating, a surprise entry, laces up against a heavyweight contender Football. Softball and Soccer seems to be a highlight matchup that could be a tough for both sides and may be one of the more evenly matched pairings here. And finally, Wrestling looks to grapple with the March Madness original, Basketball.
Hundreds of votes were collected in this first bracket, and there were some surprising victors!
Team Fury
Following an incredible turnout for Focus in round 1, the world turned to Team Fury. The heat of battle. The big moments. The fierce energy! These are the memorable sparks of passion you remember for years to come.
Baseball takes a big swing at a fired up Volleyball! Can the Field Hockey goal celly outdo the ever bright Cheerleading scene? In a mirror matchup, twin pics Hockey and Lacrosse drop the mitts in pregame huddle. And last, but anything but least, a rivalry series for the ages. Once seen as allies, sharing the spotlight during halftime shows, on stage, and pep rallies… now they come face to face to see who can really move, Dance vs Twirl!
This was a big first round, and the winners of each would advance to the Elite 8. We saw voting DOUBLE as the madness spread, and we surged ahead!
Elite 8
We saw voting Triple for Fury R1! Hundreds came to show support and the field dropped to the Elite Eight!
For Focus, fresh off of big wins, Gymnastics looks to sack Football while the gridiron powerhouse hopes to throw the opposition off balance. Softball steps to the plate to take a swing at Basketball as they surge through familiar March Madness territory.
Over in Fury, Volleyball sets for the spike over a fiercely practiced and prepared Cheerleading! Hockey hops the bench to confront the emerging fan-favorite in Dance while they ready their poms for halftime!
Winners advanced to the Conference Semifinal Final Four!
Final 4
As we head into the penultimate round, the turnout surpassed all expectations. The support for our athletes, people sharing our work, and the unbridled enthusiasm made this a fantastically successful project.
Final 4! To determine who among these relentless selections will go on to the Championship round!
Gymnastics deflated Football for a shot at Softball, fresh off their Basketball beat down. Volleyball surged a comeback in the final hour to surpass an incredible Cheerleading routine, and hope to trip up the fierce momentum Dance has generated through a hard fought win over Hockey.
These were huge matchups! Voting increased every round, thanks to all involved!
MAtchup of the Year
One of my favorite aspects of the 2026 bracket has been watching the battles between sports that would hardly ever meet in their natural habitats.
Going into the second round of Fury, I don’t think anyone could have predicted this one. Personally, I play hockey and I love the art of dance. And it seems, so many of you were as well. Dance and Hockey became the closest and most back and forth bout of the year!
With Hockey taking an early lead, the Dance community caught wind of their seemingly underdog status, and they showed out in the final hours.
The more these communities grow, we’ve begun to see an emergence of Ice Dance teams, both professionally and at the college level. Hockey players have utilized dance classes for strength training, agility, and cardio. Worlds are colliding everywhere, and I’m always excited to see what comes next!
Final Matchup
The response to March Sports Pic Madness was incredible. Friends, families, athletes, and fans came together to vote, share, and support their favorite photos throughout the competition. Every image represented hours of dedication from athletes and countless moments spent chasing the perfect shot from behind the lens. Seeing the community engage with these moments reminded us why sports photography matters so much — it preserves memories that athletes will carry forever.
As Fv3 continues to grow, events like Sports Pic Madness are a reminder of our mission: creating dynamic, professional sports imagery that captures the intensity and emotion of competition at every level. Whether it’s high school athletics, collegiate competition, youth sports, or personal athlete branding, we’re proud to continue documenting the moments that matter most.

First Champion is Crowned
Congratulations Gymnastics for their extremely close and well played win over Volleyball to be crowned the first ever, Fv3 Sports Pic Madness Champion!
